I’ve used these before with a pit mix that demolished 2 sofas in 1 day. After this he left my furniture alone. I now have a GSD that likes to chew on wood. She now leaves my wood furniture alone.
My husky/shepherd mix, is very picky, and an aggressive chewer. This came in the mail 4 hours ago, and he loves it! No splinters! No chunks off! He hasn't left it alone. It's hard enough that he cant destroy it, but somehow soft enough that he can dent it with his teeth. Great product! Will buy again!
I have 2 pit bulls and both are big chewers (one likes real bones and the other likes rubber). I got one of these wood chews just to see if my big guy (90lbs) would like it. He immediately loved it and tried to hide in the house to keep it from his sister. She's 40 lbs and didn't show interest the first few hrs, but she finally gave it a try and loved it too! My boy has a genetic gum disease that causes his gums to overgrow around his teeth, so they can be sensitive. This chew is strong enough not to break down but soft and smooth enough that it doesn't hurt his gums. This is a winner! I'm buying the medium one now for my 40lb dog.
This has been one of our puppies favorite chew toys. It's time to buy another one.
Got this on a recommendation from a great pyrenees owners group on facebook. I ordered a large, but, wow, it really is large! Even for a great pyrenees I would get a medium. She loved it straight out of the package (padded envelope). Took her awhile to manage to pick it up. She is only 6 months old. Carried it right to the couch and proceeded to chew away. Better reaction then any other toy or chew toy she's had.The picture showed the chunk with a thinner part, an irregular shape, but, hers came as a huge potato, kind of hard for her to get her mouth around. And it is quite heavy. My Daisy liked it well enough right off the bat, I ordered an extra small for a friend's small dog as a surprise.
I have 113lb pit bull. He is an aggressive chewer. Like literally chews through bone. Chews through water Buffalo horn. Even makes a decent dent in elk horn and deer antler. This thing holds its own. I’ll definitely keep buying root chews.
Pup loves it
This was a little bit large at first for my small maltipo, but she enjoys it now and it deters her from eating the corners of my baseboards!!!
Perfect toy for my pit. Last one lasted 3 months and it’s by far his favorite toy.
I love the smell of this wood. Apparently the dog does too.I got this root because my 45-pound, 7-month-old puppy has an insatiable appetite for the sharp sticks and wood chips in my landscaping. He will crunch them a couple of times, then swallow them, no matter how big or jagged. As expected, having access to fragrant wood that he can chew to his heart's content has lowered, though not eliminated, his desire to eat the landscaping. I think he especially loves being able to carve off shreds of it and eat them. I love the large size for him, because he can just barely get his jaws around it to chew.It does make a mess but that's what the iLife robot is for. It's too heavy and smooth for him to carry around, so I can set the root on a rug to contain the bits that fall off.I just received the "small" size that I got for my 5-pound rabbit. I weighed each. The large is 820 grams. The small is 130 grams. I don't see a medium size listed. I couldn't guess based on this information how big the extra small is--too small for anything but a rat, I imagine! So far the rabbit seems unimpressed, but he'll probably warm up to it.
