A few months of use on these balls with the chuck-it thrower. My dog absolutely loves this ball. There is a hole through the center that lets her really squish down on it and make a ton of noise. As a belgian, she loves it.I like to put 2800 lumens into it at night and watch it look like a radioactive projectile. Funny to see a levitating bouncing glow ball as my black dog disappears into the night with it in her mouth. She also loves to just bring them to me on the couch and toss them in the air a couple feet inside. Catch, squish "here you go!"., toss dog slobbered ball, repeat.
My dog is a destroyer and this product holds up amazing! She’s a chocolate lab and every toy she gets her mouth on she destroys, well not this ball! It’s lasted as far as 6months (mind you she can destroy other balls within days sometimes minutes) I love that it also makes a slight whistle when it’s thrown which helps her find it quicker. The glow really does work well, it’s her favorite toy!
I read a review or two where some stated this ball isn't very bright. I'm not sure how. I placed it in front of a flashlight for five seconds & it glowed bright enough to easily be seen at night. I placed it between two bright LED area lights for a minute & it glowed do bright its light reflected off if objects adjacent to it.It's size is good, roughly a tennis ball or slightly larger. It has an opening in which PB or something similar could be placed. But I don't think it's really designed as a chew toy, more for fetch ... At night.Durability ... again some mentioned there's didn't last. It's just not a chew toy. I have an 85lb pit who has crushed a lot of toys and he didn't damage it. Of course if allowed to chew on it the outcome would be different but he has chew toys for that.Definitely not the designers fault but he will chase it but he has a blue football Chee toy that is "his ball' and this just isn't a replacement for that. So he loses interest after a few tosses. For a fun night time activity, this ball is great. Other than adding a mouse maker when thrown and/or squeak, I can't see any obvious design improvements which would make it better.
Gee, aren't durability, longevity, and sturdiness all the same thing? Anyway my Pit Lo-o-oves this ball! He a ball junkie to begin with and this makes fetch a 24hr opportunity since darkness is no longer game over. Not only does this glow, it makes a whirring sound like a ufo so he can hear what direction it went. Speaking of ufos, it looks like one bounding thru the woods when he retrieves it. He is a chewer when it comes to balls. Destroys tennis balls in minutes. This ball holds up very well although his tenacity can eventually defeat the ball. I just take it away and substitute something else. Nothing can stand up to a dog's determination without damaging their teeth. This does a very respectful job of it and is dental friendly.
My dog has been obsessed with fetch since she was a pup. She will play for over an hour straight, each time retrieving the ball with as much fervor as the first. She’s in great shape because of it. We’ve used many balls over the years, tennis of course ( very difficult to clean) and various purpose-made ones as well. But with fall approaching, I knew we were going to have to get something to play in the dark or we’d have to curtail out early morning play. So we tried a couple light up balls. They were fine, but soon destroyed or stopped lighting up. We tried a glow ball, but it didn’t light up well, and had absolutely no bounce (who makes a dog ball that doesn’t bounce?). Then we landed on the Chuck It glow ball and what a wonderful toy!First off the glow is pretty bright, it’s lit up pretty good for half an hour. Heck, I’ve seen it in the middle of the night, still glowing from the minimal charge it gets from room lights the night before. Leave this out as a night light to get your bearings. It gets a little bit difficult to see in the air at sun rise, but I can always see it once landed.Second, it’s durable. My little girl is tough on her toys and she’s yet to even make a dent on this ball. However we do reserve it for fetch time only. She can tear the old tennis balls up when she’s running around the house. Also, The Chuck It ball has a couple of holes in it and they make a hollow whistling sound when thrown into the air. I swear my dog uses that whistle as she running to.
do not even have a doggie... but I used this to hang from a ceiling fan light cord in my attic... Now I can go upto attic and find the pull cord. Not the brightest (not the fault of the ball!!) as it could be in the attic for days or even weeks before wandering up to attic there but definitely a little glow enough to see the ball/cord to pull cord to turn on the lights. GREAT for this application!!!! I should have bought more at the sale price... Oh yes the best part is I did not even know it had the hole (must have missed that from the web page) but this was perfect as I simply pulled the cord thru the hole. It was like it was custom made for the use!!
I was initially surprised by the construction. I'd read it had a hole passing through it, but didn't realize it was also completely hollow. I was expecting something more solid, but in spite of that, this ball didn't disappoint--me or my dog.It immediately became a favorite toy for both of us. I also have a Nerf dog ball that she loves to bits--which is why I was getting this one. It doesn't fall to bits and she's a power chewer. I'd been looking for softer options than nylabones--not that there's anything wrong with the three she's wearing down to nubs, but I get the impression she likes softer chews too--and this has a great balance of being squishy and durable. We've had it for weeks and it shows no sign of failing. The glow-in-the-dark feature is well done. It recharges during the day, and between indirect sunlight and fluorescent lighting, it's lasted even the longest night of the year with enough glow to see it. Watching the glowing ball bobbing about in midair as my girl retrieves it it is exactly as entertaining as I imagined. It's a welcome addition to her little hoard of treasures, and it's the one she uses most to ask me to play.Shoulda bought the two-pack.
I bought this ball for my heeler mix since we go for walks in the morning and she was having trouble tracking her other Chuckit! balls in the semi-darkness. It's not super bright, like the light-up ball we had (which broke after maybe a dozen uses), BUT it is bright enough for Nalani to track it and find it in the dark, which is really all I was looking for. I lose track of it, but as long as she can find it, I'm happy. It's also lighter and bouncier than the other Chuckit! balls we have (regular, erratic bounce, and recycled), and it whistles a bit, which helps in tracking it through the air. As with all our other Chuckit! balls, it holds up really well to my dog's fairly aggressive chewing, though I don't leave it with her unattended.Overall, I am 100% pleased with this ball. It's exactly what I was looking for and Nalani loves it.UPDATE 9/10/19Just wanted to add that we are still 100% in love with this ball. It has been almost a year of daily use, and it is still in great shape! I'm pretty sure that this ball is my dog's favorite.
Both my Lab & I LOVE it!This is the best ball ever. I bought it so that we can play even when it gets dark. It charges quickly and is quite bright. Bonuses are that it is indestructible - my young lab chews on anything you let her, and although I don't let her use it as a chew toy, what chewing she has done the ball looks perfect. Unlike the regular tenis ball like Chuckit! balls which instantly have me pulling fuzz from her mouth as she promptly removes it from those balls. The hole which goes through the ball is a smart design addition - it creates a slight whirl sound as the air passes across it - making it easier to follow and find.I use it with the standard size Chuckit! ball thrower - which is awesome. It works so well that I was able to keep throwing using my non-throwing hand after an injury laid up my throwing hand. The glow-in-the-dark Chuckit! is worth every penny and then some. Every ball loving dog should have one!
These seemed expensive to me for a ball, but the brand name chuck it just seems like it lasts longer (I bought this after losing the one i got in a 'three-pack' I bought, I loved the glow ball one the best so after losing it, looked for a single ball and found this).Tried to find cheaper one but honestly figured why save $2 -$4 or whatever if the thing doesn't glow very well; I've gotten cheap ones in the past and some just barely glowed or lost glow by time she brought it back.this holds glow well for like at least 8 throws (more - but I usually use my truck lights to 're-glow' it (making up a word here) bc i love how bright it is, and watching it come back to me in the dark 'floating' until i see it in my dogs mouth. Takes about 20 seconds tops in front of Truck lights and fully fledge glow - I've compared it to brightness of a glow stick if you've ever used (but a tad less, some of those are neon-bright when first break, this is like those after a couple minutes). Not saying cheaper balls dont hold glow as much, they might but wasn't worth saving the price difference (didn't seem like a huge difference so just got this). Cool ball.
